    Coaches of the Week Program

The Buffalo Bills High School Football “Coach of the Week” Award has been given 88 times since its inception in 1997. No coach can win the award more than once a year.

Twelve coaches have won the weekly award more than once. Bill Moore, Head Football Coach of Lake Shore High School , is the only coach to be chosen as "Coach of the Week" for four consecutive years while he was at Lackawanna High School . Albion’s Dick DiMinuco, Clarence’s Tom Goddard, Pioneer’s Larry Slanovich and Orchard Park ’s Gene Tundo have been selected three times each since 1997.

Each year the award received good publicity. The Buffalo News runs a note on the high school sports page each Tuesday. The weekly winners are featured on the Buffalo Bills website and the NFL high school football’s website. The "Coach of the Year" award is given coverage in the Buffalo News and WNY Sports and Leisure newspaper. There are also numerous articles in the weekly newspapers covering the high schools in the area.

The Buffalo Bills "Coach of the Week" Award is recognized as one of the top awards for high school football in Western New York . The program aids and promotes high school football by recognizing and honoring high school football coaches and their teams.
