Dinse

Robert “Bob” Dinse earned a reputation as a tireless supporter of all athletic activities throughout his career as the athletic director for the Wilson Central School District.

While working as the athletic director for Wilson High School he expanded the athletics program from 7 sports playing 100 games in 1967 to 12 sports playing 600 games in 1996.  The expansion was in part accomplished by founding the Wilson All-Sport Booster Club, which was crucial in helping to fund the athletics programs in Wilson in the early 1980s.

The athletic program in Wilson was very successful during his tenure, producing more than 30 championship teams including a baseball team that won the state title in 1983.

Bob’s career began in the Wilson Central School District in Elementary Physical Education in 1963.  In 1967, he moved up to work with the Secondary Physical Education Program while  also taking on the role of  Director of Physical Education and Athletics.  In the intervening years, he has served as an assistant football coach for 7 years, head track coach for 6 years, cross country coach for 12 years, junior high track coach for 18 years, junior high basketball coach for 4 years and hosted the cheerleading tournament for 25 years.  He retired from his position as athletic director for the Wilson Central School District in 1996.

Bob is a 1959 graduate of Medina High School.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Ithaca College in 1963, a M.Ed. in Physical Education from SUNY Buffalo in 1968, and a  degree in School District Administration from Niagara University in 1985.  Bob also holds a certification as a Director of Health, Physical Education and Recreation from State University of New York at Brockport.

In addition to sitting on numerous other committees and councils over the years, Bob also distinguished himself as the Executive Secretary for Section VI from 1996 to 2009. Foundations of the current Section VI communication system, such as the Section VI newsletter and website were started under Bob’s watch.

With sad hearts we just learned Bob Dinse passed away February 2021.
