Section VI is the westernmost member of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association and for the second consecutive year home to four of the state's five reigning football champions. Section VI members Sweet Home (Class A) and Southwestern (Class C) won state championships for the second straight year in 2009 while North Tonawanda (Class AA) and Randolph (Class D) also brought home titles.
Section VI Football looks forward to another exciting season in 2010. In addition to Southwestern and Sweet Home looking to extend respective win streaks of 29 and 26 games, nine representatives from the Buffalo Public Schools will be participating on the gridiron with the other Section VI members for the first time ever.
The 2010 season kicks off Friday, September 3rd. The opening weekend includes night football at Clarence for the first time and the opening of the new Riverside Field. The regular season concludes the weekend of October 15th and 16th with many traditional rivalry games. The Section VI Championships will be held at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park for the 32nd consecutive year. The Syracuse University Carrier Dome will host the 18th New York State Public High School Athletic Association Football Championships November 26th and 28th.
